After a Rehoboth shooting at an Econo Lodge, guests are speaking out about what they saw Thursday night

“A lot of people aren’t going to be the same, its terrible,” Tammi Rubini, a guest at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Resort, said.

Many people are left shocked with unanswered questions after a shooting in Rehoboth last night at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Resort left one Milford police officer injured and one man dead.

Delaware State police said they were trying to apprehend a 37-year-old man from Pennsylvania who was wanted on an out-of-state arrest warrant for Attempted Criminal Homicide.

“Its a shame, I don’t know any of the issues and why obviously something went down, unfortunately the society we’re living in now this is a common occurrence,” Edward Sean Penn, a guest at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Resort, said.

We are told when officers got in contact with the man a fatal exchange of gunfire took place.

A Milford Police officer, who was assigned to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, was shot before the fugitive was shot and killed.

For guests at the inn last night, they say they would’ve never imagined an incident like this would happen in Rehoboth.

“I’ve never had a problem when I stayed here before and I’m just so speechless, nobody got any sleep last night, Rubini said.

Rubini who was staying at the inn last night says there seemed to be more than 40 cops on scene.

Overall, her as well as some other guests I spoke with said they are unhappy with how the incident went down, especially because the say the subjects body was left uncovered for a very long time.

“I really just don’t understand how they could let that gentle man sit out there for so long like that and its doesn’t matter what he did. I’m not judging anybody bit its just not right,” Rubini said.

Attorney General Kathy Jennings did send out a statement saying her thought and prayers are with the officer who was injured.

The hotel did send out a statement about the incident saying,” The entire Econo Lodge family is praying and hopeful for the injured law enforcement officer to make a complete and speedy recovery, and our thoughts and condolences go out to the deceased identity as he was not a registered guest at the hotel.”

The investigation is still ongoing so we will be sure to update you with any more details.
