Toys for Tots hosts outdoor kick-off in Sussex County

MILLSBORO, Del. – On Saturday, the local campaign organization of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in Sussex County kicked off their annual toy collection to help thousands of children in need.

The event took place at the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro.

People donated toys for kids up to ten years old.

Event organizers say many families have been impacted by the pandemic, which is why there’s a bigger request for toys this year.

Volunteers we spoke to say helping children during the holiday season is worthwhile.

“Last year, there was a woman that came in with her daughter was about nine years old and picked up a bike and the little girl when she got that bike she just went ear to ear with her grin,” said Grady Putnan, a volunteer.

“That made it worth it,” said Putnan.
