Rising Up awards presented to four in Dorchester Co.

DORCHESTER CO., Md. – We are recognizing four individuals and organizations out of Dorchester County who rose up to address the challenges in their community regarding the deadly pandemic and societal unrest this year.

On Wednesday, the Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area and the Dorchester Business Resource Group announced they gave a Rising Up award to Miriam Moran, WHCP Community Radio, Chris Agharabi, and the Dorchester County Health Department. We’re told between those four, they designed Cambridge’s Black Lives Matter mural, created new programming to provide timely information, developed a program to help struggling restaurants, and partnered with other organizations to deliver health solutions.

The Rising Up awards were created this year for those who responded to the upheaval of 2020 with innovation, creativity, and compassion.
