Millsboro woman killed in crash, police investigating

MILLSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Millsboro woman Tuesday night.

We’re told the accident happened at around 8:45 p.m., when a Kia Sportage was traveling eastbound on Laurel Road approaching a moderate left curve near the intersection of Lowes Crossing Road. For unknown reasons, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and veered off the south edge of the roadway into a shallow ditch. The vehicle continued traveling before hitting a Delaware Electric Utility Pole and onto Lowes Crossing Road where it starting rotating as it flipped multiple times.

A 58-year-old Millsboro woman was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
