Mayor Meehan reveals plans for Ocean City after re-election

OCEAN CITY, Md. – In Ocean City, Mayor Rick Meehan is unveiling the plans he has to improve the area after being re-elected to serve the resort town for another two years. The first item on his list is to continue to monitor the coronavirus pandemic to ensure the health and safety of residents, as well as coming up with ways to make sure businesses stay afloat. But on top of that, the mayor says his focus for these next couple of years will also be to address public safety which he says includes the possibility of reinforcing the police department and hiring more officers.

“I think we have to go back to basics and really start enforcing all of our ordinances right from the beginning and it might seem minor in nature but you know the no smoking on the boardwalk, no bike riding after a certain period of time. If we set the tone and we reinforce all of those minor types of infractions to begin with, it really sets the tone for the summer,” said Meehan.

Meehan adds that he’s also staying on top of and monitoring the expansion of the Ocean City Convention Center which is now in its third phase.
