Maryland Board of Elections show Harris coming ahead of Mia Mason in race

MARYLAND- In Maryland’s 1st congressional district, with incumbent Andy Harris facing Mia Mason, the Maryland Board of Elections announced that Andy Harris is coming on top with 52. 8% of the vote.

Democratic nominee, Mia Mason has 47% of the vote.

We spoke with Harris about his thoughts on the race.

He said he is happy and it’s great to see that the voter turnout is so high.

Harris said if he wins he feels both parties need to work together and is looking forward to taking care of the needs of the 1st District, especially the Eastern Shore.

“Obviously, it’s been pretty divisive, pretty partisan over the last few months, but once the election is over we have to just agree to just work together all for the good of this country, get COVID in the rear view mirror, get our economy working again,” Rep. Andy Harris, (R) Maryland, said.

Harris said the most important issue is that we need to get the coronavirus pandemic past us and that includes trying to get vaccines out as soon as possible.
