Laurel football moves to 2-0 for the first time since ’09 with win over IR
DAGSBORO, Del.- With three touchdowns in the first half, Laurel holds on to shut out Indian River 35-0 and move to 2-0 for the first time since 2009. The Indians fall to 1-1 on the year.
Both teams coming into this one sitting at 1-0, it was billed to be a possible game of the year. It looked like it was going to be a close one with both team going three and out to start the game. From there, it was all Bulldogs. On their second drive, Laurel got a 30 yard TD run from Jaden Snyder. In the second quarter, they would get two more scores. A one goal line dive to Anthony Smith and then a 40 yard QB keeper for Kaden Shockley with 11 seconds to play in the first half to take the 21-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, it was a defensive explosion for the Bulldogs. On the opening drive, Trevor Collins picked off an IR pass and took it to the house for the 35 yard pick six as the Bulldogs led 28-0 to end the third quarter. As the fourth quarter started, the Laurel defense got back on the board. Javier White picked off another IR pass and took it back for the score. Laurel rolls past IR 35-0.
The Bulldogs look to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Seaford to take on the Bluejays this Friday. Indian River will try and get back in the win column when they travel to Woodside to take on Polytech also this Friday.
