Fire damages Delmar Auto Center
DELMAR, Del. – Fire officials say a fire that caused more than $200,000 in damage at the Delmar Auto Center Tuesday afternoon was accidental.
The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. at the business, located in the 8000 block of Waller Road. Smoke and flames were found coming from two structures on the property, and firefighters from the Delmar Fire Department and mutual aid fire companies responded to the blaze.
Delaware State Fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate, ultimately determining that the fire was accidental, caused by an open burning that spread into the adjacent structures. Total fire damage has been estimated at $250,000. The structures were occupied at the time of the fire, and one subject was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation.
