Two arrested in connection to recent burglaries and thefts in Laurel

LAUREL, Del. – Laurel Police say two men have been arrested in connection to multiple burglaries and thefts.

According to police, an investigation began after they received a high number of burglary and theft complaints over the past few weeks. Police identified 31-year-old James Snead as a person of interest in the crimes.

On September 24th, officers observed Snead exiting a residence in the 506 Center Street, where he does not reside, and took him into custody without incident. Police then made contact with the residence, 43-year-old Lamarr Stancell, at which point items that were known to have recently been reported stolen were observed in plain view. He was also taken into custody.

Search warrants were obtained and executed for the property, resulting in the recovery of 68 items, including televisions, power/hand tools, clothing, and various other items.

Snead was charged with third degree burglary, theft $1500 or greater where victim is 62 years of age or older, second degree conspiracy agreement to aid another felony, two counts of theft under $1500, third degree conspiracy agreement to aid another in misdemeanor, criminal mischief under $1000 damage property, and fugitive from another state. He was issued an unsecured bond but was held at SCI pending extradition to Maryland.

Stancell was charged with theft $15oo or greater where victim is 62 years of age or older, second degree conspiracy agreement to aid another felony, receiving stolen property under $1500, theft under $1500, and third degree conspiracy agreement to aid another in a misdemeanor. He was released on an unsecured bond.
