The Suburban Farmhouse closed in Milton, but evolving into a new opportunity

MILTON, Del.- The Suburban Farmhouse restaurant said its goodbyes earlier this week to evolve into a new adventure.

The owner told us when they initially designed the business three years ago it was supposed to be a coffee shop with a retail mix.

But as Milton grew the desire for restaurants grew, so they jumped on that bandwagon.

The owner adds that the Farmhouse has evolved and she wants to go back to her original idea.

That’s why she is now moving into their retail shop, The Speckled Roost, across the street, that will include the SIP bar which will sell coffee and there will be baked goods.

“The Farmhouse has no more of a need, it’s kind of evolved itself out of what it was and I want to go back to having what I had, so it’s just time to close the chapter on a beautiful little love story for me,” Kristen Latham, owner of The Suburban Farmhouse, said.

The Suburban Farmhouse said they hope to open early November, but the building they are moving into recently just caught fire so there’s no set date.

Their goal is to be open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and Friday’s and Saturday’s until 5 p.m.
