Pair arrested for drugs during traffic stop
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested two people on drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.
We’re told at around 3:45 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a Nissan Sentra traveling on the road with a large crack in the center of the windshield. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle as it turned into the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn, and contact was made with the driver, 31-year-old Christopher Boone, and passenger, 32-year-old Lauren Wingate.
During the interaction with the pair, the trooper reportedly noted their abnormal behavior and found it to be consistent with criminal activity, therefore launching a criminal investigation.
The trooper found Boone to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and approximately .203 grams of heroin, while Wingate was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and approximately .07 grams of heroin. A computer search also revealed that Boone had two active capiases out of Sussex County for violation of probation. The pair were subsequently arrested.
Boone was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, failure to have insurance identification in possession, failure to have registration identification in possession, safety glass violation, and a civil violation for not wearing his seatbelt. He was issued a $10,550 unsecured bond and was held at SCI for violation of probation.
Wingate was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance.
