“Now that we are in the middle of a pandemic that hasn’t gotten better, that has to be our top priority”: U.S. Sen. Chris Coons talks goals if re-elected

DELAWARE- With the election coming up, U.S. Senator Chris Coons is getting ready to face three other candidates for the Delaware U.S. Senator seat.

Senator Coons said if re-elected he wants to continue to bring Americans together and address long unresolved issues that have divided people along the lines of race and background.

He also said before the pandemic hit he really wanted to address the opioid epidemic, but he said since COVID-19 he had to shift his focus a bit.

“Now that we are in the middle of a pandemic that hasn’t gotten better, that has to be our top priority, is developing, securing, and distributing a safe vaccine to all Americans and then looking hard at the ways that we can build our economy back better,” incumbent Sen. Coons, (D) Delaware, said.

Senator Coons added that he is a strong advocate for the poultry industry here on the Eastern Shore and will continue that support for export opportunities and poultry workers.

He also said his experience in the private sector, 10 years in the Unites States Senate, and his seniority on critical committees, like the small business and appropriations committee, makes him a viable candidate.
