MAC Inc. trying to increase senior participation in SNAP program

SALISBURY, Md. – MAC Inc. in Salisbury has joined forces with the National Council on Aging to make sure all seniors are fed nutritious meals, especially as the pandemic continues.

The two organizations have teamed up to get more seniors to enroll in the SNAP program which brings food to eligible senior citizens.

To increase participation, seniors can now check if they’re eligible for benefits by visiting BenefitsCheckUp.org.

Officials at MAC say by providing this service, they have the potential to help at least 40,o00 senior citizens.

“We just worry about older people not having enough food to eat, especially during this pandemic when it’s hard for them to get out, it’s hard for them to shop,” Teri Davidson with MAC said.
