Live Green: Love Your Mama
OCEAN CITY, MD– In Ocean City, there’s a business all about helping Mother Earth. From living a healthy lifestyle to sustainable living, Lizzie Ottenstein, the founder of Love Your Mama, continues to spread green practices within her community. Check out this week’s Live Green.
Love Your Mama in Ocean City was created with the goal to make a life with less waste as they provide products that promote sustainable living and contain minimal plastic.
“I call it an eco-boutique in the sense that I offer various things of various aspects of life to create sustainable swaps and take out the guess work for my customers and community to help them live a life of no waste or at least a life of lesser waste than what they are currently doing,” explained Lizzie Ottenstein.
Aside from its readily packaged products, Love Your Mama is known for its refill program. This program includes eco-friendly products that you can use in your house or on your body.
“The refill program is like the modern day milk man of cleaning products. My goal in that is to give you everything you could need to generally clean your house or yourself,” said Ottenstein.
You just need to order online and the owner will fill a reusable container with the product you pick. When you are ready for more, bring back the empty container and collect the product in a new cannister. More eco-concious swaps include utilizing reusable shopping bags, buying local, and even making your own cleaning supplies.
“There’s so many simple things, such as making your own all purpose cleaner. I personally use lemon a lot in my cooking and in the kitchen. I take the lemon rinds after squeezing the juice out and throw them in a jar. Then fill it with vinegar and let it sit for a week,” said Ottenstein.
With all that Love Your Mama does, the owner continues to do more. By partnering with other local businesses for beach clean ups and pop up shops, she hopes to create a green community on Delmarva.
