Governor Carney signs proclamation marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month
DELAWARE – On Tuesday, Governor John Carney signed a proclamation recognizing this year’s month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
During the virtual meeting, Governor Carney recognized several leaders in the community who fight domestic violence.
Some of those leaders include the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence Sue Ryan and Chief Judge Michael Newell. The governor says residents need to also take the time to recognize educators who deal with trauma among children.
“We also need to recognize all of the educators across the state who deal with the trauma that those left with children as they come to school and other public service, social service agencies,” said Governor Carney.
Governor Carney adds that the state’s focus on trauma is crucial in the fight against domestic violence.
