Dover man indicted for pulling out gun during political rally
WILMINGTON, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Dover man on Monday stemming from actions he allegedly committed at a political rally late last month.
We’re told the original incident happened on September 24th, in the area of Lancaster Pike and Barbara Road in Wilmington. Police say 60-year-old Michael Hastings pointed a handgun in the direction of a group of people on the other side of the street during the rally.
On Monday, a New Castle Grand Jury indicted Hastings, who turned himself in at around 6:30 p.m. that same day. Detectives requested Hastings bring the firearm in question, which he did, and was confirmed to be a Glock 17 handgun.
Hastings was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was released on his own recognizance with court bail conditions stating he shall relinquish all firearms and/or deadly weapons and may not acquire, nor be in possession of, any firearms or deadly weapons.
