Coronavirus cases across the shore: October 9, 2020


DELMARVA – Below is an update on COVID-19 cases across the Eastern Shore.

Maryland has surpassed 130,000 cases, with the addition of 734 cases overnight. The state’s total number of cases now sits at 130,159, with a positivity rate of 2.87%. Wicomico County added 18 new cases, bringing the total to 2,175, with a positivity rate of 4.02%. Worcester County added 8 new cases, bringing their total to 1,120, with a positivity rate of 3.87%.

In Delaware, 145 new cases were added over the last 24 hours, bringing the state’s total to 21,827. The statewide positivity rate sits at 5.3%, up slightly from the previous day. It’s also important to note that the state’s hospitalizations surpassed 100 on October 7th, for the first time since June. Locally, Sussex County added 36 new cases overnight and currently sits at a total of 7,148, with a positivity rate of 12.7%, up from 10.2% the previous day.

Virginia is up to 147,928 total cases statewide, up nearly 1,000 from the previous day. Accomack County continues to remain steady at 1,188 cases, with no new cases added all week.
