Annual Peace Week Delaware includes march, rally in Georgetown

SUSSEX CO., Del. – The fifth annual Peace Week Delaware is underway with plenty of virtual events scheduled across the state including Sussex County and one in-person march this weekend.

Officials say the goal of this week is to promote unity and understanding through educational opportunities like forums. Some topics include mental health and criminal justice reform as well as discussions with authors and law enforcement. Organizers tell 47 ABC they believe these conversations are especially relevant given recent protests and social movements nationwide.

“Now more than ever we need to reach out and focus on relating to one another in peaceful ways and getting together and supporting one another and bringing more peace into our world,” says Beth Kopicki, the chair of Peace Week Sussex County.

The in-person march and rally will be this Sunday October 11th and begins at 2:30 PM at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
