2020 Pocomoke Christmas parade canceled

Pocomoke City

POCOMOKE, Md. – According to Pocomoke City leaders, there won’t be a parade to celebrate the holidays this year.

The Pocomoke City council voted on Monday to cancel the Christmas parade, out of safety precautions for COVID-19. They say they waited as long as they could to make a decision in hopes that things would change, but at this point they do not believe they could keep attendees safe.

Officials say the annual parade typically draws more than 2,000 people.

The council says they look forward to 2021, when they can bring a “bigger and even greater experience in the city.”
