Wicomico County woman arrested by police after allegedly killing husband
SHARPTOWN, Md. – An overnight shooting in Sharptown has left a husband dead, a wife as the prime suspect, and police trying to figure out what happened.
When police arrived they found the victim, 51-year-old Edward Kholhoff, home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Also inside police found Walter’s wife and now suspect 55-year-old Sharon Kohloff along with a handgun laying on a cabinet in plain sight.
According to police, Sharon allegedly grabbed a gun from the second floor of their home and came downstairs where during a reported argument with her husband she shot him multiple times.
Investigators also learned that earlier that night Sharon had called police to learn about how to obtain a protective order, but she never reported any type of assault or requested any help. However, investigators say they believe the couple had marriage problems.
47ABC tried to speak to neighbors about the shooting, but many refused to go on camera. However, some told 47ABC off-camera that this is all very unusual for a small and peaceful town.
Police say Sharon was ultimately taken to the Wicomico County central booking center and has been charged with first-degree murder and assault.
The victim’s body has been taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy while the investigation continues.
Both Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office say they found no record of previous responses to the couple’s home for domestic-related issues.
