Wicomico County School District bringing virtual after school program to students
WICOMICO CO., Md.- Wicomico County Public Schools is launching a free, interactive after school virtual learning experience.
This year the Wicomico County School District developed a virtual after school program designed to improve academics and provide hands-on creative activities for students.
We’re told they always had an after school program, but this is the first year they are making it virtual. That’s of course due to COVID-19.
The program will allow students to participate in arts, tutoring, and enrichment experiences like zumba.
We are told the district felt it was important to continue providing these after school services.
“Through this virtual era right now, where we have to kinda figure out not just technology, but we also have to do our school work, so that’s really where this year vitally we’re excited to be able to help for extended amount of time for these kids,” Laura Jones, Program Coordinator for out-of-school programs in Wicomico County, said.
The program will run Monday through Thursdays for two hours after school.
It will be offered at 11 schools in the county starting at the end of September, to find out more information on how you can can get your child involved you can contact the Wicomico Board of Education.
