Wico. County officials secure $1.2M for Pirate’s Wharf Park

QUANTICO, Md. – Wicomico County officials announced they’ve secured even more funding to help make their Pirate’s Wharf Park project come to life. Officials say the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has committed to providing $1.2 million in funding for the engineering, design, and construction of the new park. County officials say the project will include trails, a fishing pier, a boat launch, and boat landing, a family-friendly pavilion, and more. They add that this additional funding is getting them one step closer to making this dream become a reality.

“In the time of COVID and getting capital projects done it has been difficult, but we have everything in the pipeline, and moving forward we’re ready to go,” said Wicomico County Councilmember, Nicole Acle (District 2).

There’s still no official date as to when the park is expected to be completed. if you’d like to stay up to date on the progress and view the master plan for the park, you’re encouraged to visit the county’s website here.
