Weeklong 2020 AIDS Walk Delaware Challenge kicks off

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – This weekend the virtual 2020 AIDS Walk Delaware weeklong challenge kicked off and the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center is pushing to get more people to participate.

The challenge is being led by AIDS Delaware and the Delaware HIV Consortium.

CAMP Rehoboth is asking the public to join their team called Sashay Away Walkers.

They are asking team members to walk 12 miles on their own to help raise awareness for the more than 1.2 million people living with HIV in the country. The event also helps raise money for statewide HIV/AIDS services.

“So, in a time when we’re dealing with COVID or other diseases we have to remember that HIV and AIDS people are still getting impacted and infected and there’s tons of organizations out there that are trying to do work to help people living with AIDS,” said the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Health and Wellness Director Salvatore Seeley.

Seeley says participants can also share their experiences by posting pictures with the hashtag #AWD2020. For more information about how you can participate, you’re encouraged to visit the Facebook page called CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.
