Walk of Change Silent March to be held Sunday in Delmar

DELMAR, Del. – In Sussex County, a local community advocate is getting ready to hold a Walk of Change Silent March tomorrow in Delmar.

Jalyn Powell says people will be marching against racism and social injustice.

The march will start and end at State Street Park.

Powell says that there will be a message of peace and unity. She adds that there needs to be more conversations about systemic racism and discrimination in Delaware.

“I continue to keep in mind if not me then who? And I do believe that it’s my due diligence to keep the conversation going and I have no problem entering in the towns that have not sparked conversation yet to do so,” said Powell.

Powell says people at the march will be encouraged to volunteer for social justice organizations as well as to register to vote.

The march begins at 4 p.m.
