More Than Pink Walk kicking off virtually
WORCESTER CO., Md. – Get your sneakers ready! The 2020 Komen Delmarva More than Pink Walk is kicking off virtually on Saturday.
The annual walk moved virtual this year because of the pandemic, but organizers say it may actually give people more of an opportunity to participate. Now, instead of walking the Ocean City boardwalk, people can walk in their own neighborhoods, on the beach, or even on a treadmill.
The walk raises money for breast cancer research, and organizers say that while many of us are focused on the covid pandemic right now, it’s still important to support breast cancer survivors, family members, and supporters.
“So much is taking place to make sure people are safe when it comes to their healthcare and where they go to get those needs, so we find this extremely important right now, there’s so much stress going on, but we also need to make sure we’re still supporting people who are going through this terrible disease,” Karen Falk, with Komen Maryland said.
The virtual walk kicks off on Saturday, and anyone can register here.
