Local Salisbury farm markets happy to have guests back for Fall activities

SALISBURY, Md.- Many families came out to Adkins Farm Market Sunday to enjoy the nice weather and Fall activities.

This year local farm markets were not sure if they would be able to offer those activities, due to the pandemic, but since they can, they are in full swing.

“They are super happy to come out and be able to do that again, just to come and play and do something that they’re used to, something normal is what they are looking for,” Tammy Adkins,
owner of Adkins Farm Market, said.

Adkins said this year is a little different because they need to follow COVID-19 guidelines, also due to weather guests won’t be able to pick their own pumpkins.

“We’re able to have plenty of pumpkins our field where we planted the pumpkins did very well, it was higher ground and sandy, but unfortunately our pick your own patch here at the market is lower, wetter ground and they drowned out,” Adkins said.

Adkins said they can still get a pumpkin it will just be already picked for them from their pumpkin field.

She also adds that families will be able to enjoy their hayride and mazes.

“We have a 10 acre corn maze, we have an educational maze, we have willow maze, and many other straw and hay mazes and stuff to climb on,” Adkins said.

And at Wright’s Market in Salisbury they will also be offering some Fall fun for their guests every weekend in October.

“The corn maze is going to be open, the you-pick pumpkins, all the normal activities we have, the petting zoo are pretty well the same,” Charles Wright, owner of Wright’s market, said.

The owner of Wright’s Market said he is happy to have people back for this season, especially because these activities are a great help to business.

“We’re very grateful because we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to do it and it’s a large portion of our income is in October,” Wright said.

Both Adkins Farm Market and Wright’s Market said while they are excited to have people back, people must remember to follow the rules they have in place for the pandemic to keep everyone safe.

Adkins Farm Market said they will have their Fall activities everyday until October 31.

Wright Market will begin their activities next Saturday and they will go on every weekend in October.

Wright’s adds that this year they will not have their hayride.
