Local man paddling to raise funds to Oyster Recovery Partnership
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – One man recently worked hard to raise awareness and funds for the Oyster Recovery Partnership to plant oysters in the Chesapeake Bay.
Last Friday, Chris Hopkinson began his 240 mile journey paddling to Virginia Beach from Havre de Grace Maryland. So far he has raised nearly $150,00, which is very close to his $200,000 goal. His plan is to plant 20 million oyster spat in the Chesapeake Bay. Hopkins is set to row into Virginia Beach by this Saturday.
