Local bars see boost in sales as football returns

LEWES, Del. – With the return of football season, many bars on Delmarva say they’ve already seen a big boost in sales as they push to keep business going amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Wheelhouse in Lewes tells 47ABC they’ve been seeing a lot more people than usual.

They say they’ve now got more space for football fans while continuing to follow safety guidelines.

Dominique Vinson, manager at the Wheelhouse, says business has taken a huge hit by the pandemic so football season has been helpful so far.

“Most definitely since the bars opened it’s been more people coming to the bars, but especially on Thursday, we’re definitely having more of a later crowd than usual,” said Vinson.

The Wheelhouse tells 47ABC they’re grateful that bars are able to remain open and that they are hopeful that business will get better moving forward.
