Free ice cream for teachers on Friday
TALBOT CO., Md. – On Friday, organizers in Talbot County found a very sweet way to celebrate teachers.
Shelton Hawkins, an educator in the county, says he knows how hard this year has already been on teachers. So he teamed up with Storm and Daughters Ice Cream to give free ice cream to teachers!
But it doesn’t stop there, Hawkins says he and the team at the ice cream shop actually came up with new, limited edition flavors to honor the teachers today.
He says the school year has already been challenging, so they just wanted to find a way to make teachers feel seen and appreciated.
“I just wanted to do something to start the teachers off right, on the right foot, and let them know that we appreciate them, and that we understand [things] are going to happen, but we’re in this together, one class at a time, so we’ll figure it all out,” he said.
The free ice cream promotion runs from open to close on Friday, September 11 for teachers, which will be from noon until 11 p.m. at Storm and Daughters in Talbot County. Hawkins says all you have to do to cash in on the ice cream is show your teacher I.D.
