DSP arrest man on felony assault charges, they say he was missing since February

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested a  34 year-old, man on felony assault charges, stemming from an incident that happened on February 4, 2020.

Police said on Feb. 4 a warrant was out for Alvaro E. Marroquinn charging him with Assault 1st and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

Police said allegedly he shot an acquaintance in the head while the two were in the area of Garden Circle in Georgetown.

Police said Marroquinn fled the scene and his whereabouts have remained unknown since Feb. 4.

We are told several law enforcement agencies helped to try and locate Marroquinn.

Police said during their investigation it was learned that Marroquinn had returned to Guatemala and Mexico.

Police said on June 6, 2020 DSP were contacted and advised that Marroquinn had been apprehended by the United States Border Patrol in Arizona, while attempting to re-enter the country.

On September 11, 2020 DSP were advised Marroquinn would be transported to Troop 4.  Marroquinn had been transported to Philadelphia, PA, and turned over to State Detectives in Wilmington, DE by US Marshals on September 11, 2020.

Police said Marroquinn was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3.

Officers said Marroquinn also had an outstanding (issued in 2015) warrant for Failure to Appear on a previous Assault charge.

Marroquinn was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a total of $500,000 cash only bail  for the Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony charges, and $1,000 secured bail.
