Dover Police address kidnapping rumors in resolved missing person case
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are addressing rumors surrounding a recent missing person’s case.
We’re told Dover PD took a missing person report on Sunday, regarding an adult female that had been missing since the prior evening. A Gold Alert was issued for the woman, who was located safely in Maryland the following evening, September 22nd.
Since that time, police say information has publicly circulated that she was kidnapped and taken out of state against her will. Based on the investigation conducted by detectives, the department can confirm that no crime was committed in this case, and there is no threat to public safety.
We’re told the individual who was the object of the missing person report has made false statements regarding her disappearance, and it is reportedly causing baseless concern in the community and has led to a GoFundMe effort on her behalf that relies on the inaccurate information.
