Dorchester County to hold Day of Resilience next Saturday

DORCHESTER CO., Md. – The community is gearing up for Day of Resilience 2020, which will take place next Saturday.

The event is being led by the group Alpha Genesis Community Development Corporation.

Organizers say there will be an unveiling of a 9-foot and 2,400-pound bronze sculpture of Harriet Tubman outside the county courthouse.

The community will be joined virtually by the Ambassadors of Togo, Namibia and Mali.

There will also be a concert featuring jazz artist Linda Harris.

“We’re in a really weird time in space and we felt it was important to infuse this type of positive energy into our atmosphere,” said Adrian Holmes, founder of Alpha Genesis Community Development Corporation.

The event will begin at noon.

Organizers say that after the Harriet Tubman sculpture is revealed it will remain outside the courthouse until October 9th.
