Delaware beach bars reopen for Labor Day weekend

LEWES, Del. – This Labor Day weekend businesses in Delaware have been able to open their bars.

This comes after Governor John Carney’s announcement last Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Governor Carney announced that all the beach bars that were closed following coronavirus outbreaks would be allowed to reopen on Friday.

The Wheelhouse in Lewes tells 47ABC this change was much needed and that it was a chance to help increase business.

“We actually built a new bar to the wheelhouse and then we opened up a new restaurant over at Bushels, so have all of these bars that were just sitting there going to waste and we couldn’t wait to get back,” said Food Truck and Catering Manager Nicholas Taylor.

The Wheelhouse says if bars are allowed to stay open they will be able to stay extend their hours.
