Cambridge man arrested for armed carjacking
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge Police say they arrested a man on numerous charges following a reported robbery and carjacking that took place over the weekend.
Shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the 700 block of Pine Street for a reported stabbing. Officers learned that the victim was at the emergency room, and upon meeting with the victim, police observed that he had a deep laceration on the tip of his nose.
The victim told police that he was sitting in his parked car in the Pine Street area when he was approached by a man, who reportedly opened his passenger side door and sat down inside the vehicle. Police say the man then told the victim to get out of the car, and when the victim refused, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him, causing injury to his nose. Police say the victim then decided to get out the vehicle and flee, while the suspect stole the vehicle.
A short time later, the vehicle was located on Gay Street. When officers tried to contact the driver, he reportedly sped off, leading police on a short pursuit that ended when he ran off the roadway and into a ditch. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 20-year-old Tramelle Williams. At the time of the stop, Williams had a kitchen style knife on his lap, and police found a second knife as well as suspected heroin inside the vehicle.
Williams was subsequently arrested and charged with armed robbery, armed carjacking, first degree assault, weapon charges, and other related charges. It was also learned that he had an active warrant out for his arrest through Wicomico County as well as Dorchester County.
He is currently being held without bond. There is no mugshot at his time due to him allegedly being uncooperative throughout the arrest process.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
