Wico. Co. Councilman Joe Holloway says his ‘experience’ makes him ideal for County Exec. job

SALISBURY, Md – Out of the four candidates eyeing the top spot in Wicomico County, one of them is already serving in county government, Councilman Joe Holloway (R) (D-5).

Holloway says some of his top priorities if he were to get the job, would include getting the county government back in order. He says as of now they are missing quite a few department heads, so he wants to get that squared away. He also says he wants to repair the relationship between the county executive’s office and the council.

As for what he thinks his biggest asset would be, he says it would be his experience serving the county.

“I’ve been on the county council for 15 years. I have a really good working knowledge of how the county does work.  I’ve seen how it shouldn’t work in the past and like I said I’ve been there since 2006 so I think that’s the biggest asset right now,” Holloway said.

During his sitdown with 47 ABC we also asked Holloway about whether he would recuse himself when it comes time for the council to vote for who should be county executive.

Holloway said he has asked the ethics committee about that, and if they allow him to then he will.

The council has said they will make a decision by the first week in September.

Along with Holloway Delegate Carl Anderton Jr., Dr. Rene Desmarias,

and former county employee, Michele Ennis has also applied for the executive position.
