UPDATE: Police release name of victim in Delaware boating accident

1280 Indian River Boat Accident

INDIAN RIVER, Del. – Delaware State Police released the name of the victim who was involved in a boating accident that happened August 27 in Indian River.

Just before 4:30 p.m., 68-year-old, Donald M. Cutsail Jr., of West Virginia, his wife, and granddaughter were fishing in the Indian River, south of the South Shore Marina in their boat. The victim reportedly discovered that his fishing line was caught in the boat’s motor, and he jumped in the water to untangle the line. As the victim tried to climb the ladder back onto the boat, he fell backward into the water and was unable to swim due to the rough water conditions and strong current.

A passing boat saw the victim in distress, pulled the victim from the water onto their boat, and began life-saving measures before being transferred to a Coast Guard boat and taken back to shore. The victim was then taken to an area hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
