Tropical cyclones are named to avoid confusion with another storm occuring at the same time and to provide warning information quickly. Storm names consist of male and female names, which alternate from one storm to another and year to year. The names are established by the World Meteorological Organization. Names get retired due to being costly and/or deadly and replaced with another. When all storm names are used in one season, the Greek Alphabet is adapted. Storm are named based on those familiar to its region.
