Weather Tidbits: Sturgeon Moon

The sturgeon moon takes center stage in this Weather Tidbits. The sturgeon moon is the nickname for the August full moon. It is called that due to the abundance of sturgeon available for fishing in lakes and rivers around the great lakes by Native Americans tribes hundreds of years ago. This month’s full moon is also called the green corn moon, as the corn nears its harvest and the red moon due to the reddish appearance in the hot sultry summery haze.
