Weather Tidbits: Aurora

One of the coolest phenomenons is explained in this Weather Tidbits, which is the aurora. An aurora is a glowing light display in the nighttime sky, caused by excited gases in the upper atmosphere giving off light. The auroras commonly take place in the high latitudes, due to the emergence of the earth’s magnetic field. The northern lights are called “aurora borealis”, while the southern lights are known as the “aurora australis”.
