Three sentenced on rape charges in Worcester Co.
SNOW HILL, Md. – Three men will spend time behind bars following an investigation into a sexual assault incident that happened in 2017.
The charges stem from a report of sexual assault made in August 2018 to the Ocean City Police Department. The victim reported that she had been vacationing in Ocean City in June of 2017 with 22-year-old Kyle Davis, his uncle, 45-year-old Larry Kendall, and his friend, 24-year-old Damien Shiel. During the vacation, the three men reportedly acted together to overpower her in their shared hotel room, and each of them forced her to engage in sexual acts with them against her will.
Investigators traveled across the state to interview witnesses and were able to corroborate the victim’s account by obtaining her medical records, Facebook messages between the victim and Shiel, and incriminating statements made by Shiel and Davis.
Each of the three men were convicted of second degree rape and will be required to register as Tier III sex offenders for life. Kendall and Davis were sentenced to 20 years, while Shiel was sentenced to 20 years with all but 15 suspended.
