SU Police give back to community

SALISBURY, Md. – University police officers turned a challenge into a positive outcome for the local community.

This year, Salisbury University Police Department’s annual Auction of Unclaimed Property was canceled, but those bikes that would have been auctioned off were donated to the Wicomico County Public Schools instead. Over 40 bikes were given to the school district to help the shop program, where students learn how to repair and refurbish bicycles in exchange for academic credits. For there, those bikes are donated to community organizations.

SUPD says this was an ideal collaboration that gives the bikes a dual purpose, first to a local school program and then to the surrounding community later.
