“Stuff the Bus” campaign starting Friday, Salvation Army collecting school supplies for local children

MARYLAND–Walmart and the Salvation Army are teaming up to provide new school supplies to local children in need starting Friday.

Captain Matt Trantham with the Salvation Army said the “Stuff the Bus” campaign is part of a national event.

Customers will have the opportunity to buy items and drop them off at requested Salvation Army collection bins at the front of Walmart in Berlin, Frutiland, Pocomoke, and Salisbury.

Trantham adds financially COVID has thrown a curve ball for many, and while schools may not be operating the same, the need for supplies is still there.

“So they still have needs for supplies, the need is still there. It presents challenges not only for the children, but also for the teachers, the administrators trying to teach,” Trantham said.

We are told to keep people safe during the pandemic they will be sanitizing the supplies and will not have someone working at the bins for collection.

Also, in Berlin, Pocomoke, and Salisbury you can drop off items until Sunday.

In Fruitland, you can drop off items until Saturday.
