Small business owner hosting new shopping event in Milton to support local vendors
MILTON, Del.- This Saturday dozens of vendors will be set up at Sapp Farms in Milton to take part in the new “Farm Day Shopping” event.
Event organizer and owner of the farm, Jaclyn Gibbons, said she’s holding this event as a way to help out her fellow small business owners who may have struggled due to the pandemic.
Now, she’s just urging the public to attend.
“We just hope that even if you cant come out to buy anything , just come out support local businesses, this time it is tough for small businesses,” Gibbons said.
Gibbons adds on top of vendors the community can expect to see plenty of activities for the kids at the event, and there will even be animals for people to see like goats, cows, pigs, and ponies.
“People can come in and buy treats and snacks and stuff like that and be able to interact with the animals where as on a daily basis people just ride by, look at them and they can’t interact
On top of helping out small business owners this event will help raise money for the group Cape Future Farmers of America, which is a program ran through Cape Henlopen High School that teaches kids about animals and the responsibility of raising them.
“It will help us as we go into our next years seasons, we can kind of build up our funds before we get into the season and start spending some of that money,” Patrick Emmett, pig showman with Cape FFA, said.
Overall, vendors said they hope that this event turns out well and that people can support in any way possible.
“Small business is what our small town, our small community thrives on, so if you can get out and you can support even just one business that’s one household you’re supporting,” Brittaney Reynolds, said.
We are told there will be 24 vendors at the event, those include, The Frozen Farmer, Harvest Moon, Totes Fabulous Boutique, and MJ S.W.A.T.
The event will happen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12624 Union Street Extended Milton.
