SHORE UP! Inc. to start school year with virtual learning
SALISBURY, Md. — Shore Up! Inc.’s head start program students will begin the 2020-21 school year on a virtual learning plan starting September 8th, the agency announced on Friday
We’re told teachers will report to their respective facilities to conduct classes online. Shore Up! also says all families will be provided the necessary equipment and healthy food options to ensure a successful experience.
Head Start director, Dr. Corey Bowen, says SHORE UP! is providing tablets to all of their families. He says “These tablets will be equipped with built-in Wi-Fi. In cases where there is no
accessible Wi-Fi, we will try to offer Hotspots for families so their children are still able to receive instruction.” Bowen adds that during the virtual period, lunches will be delivered to families everyday.
The agency says they will ultimately implement a hybrid model of in-person and virtual learning, depending on family needs and data in the agency’s service areas regarding COVID-19. Bowen says a committee is currently discussing the details on how in-person classes and transportation will operate.
