Police: Man critically injured in industrial accident

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police say they are investigating a serious industrial accident that happened Monday afternoon in Lewes.

Just after 4 p.m., troopers responded to the 31000 block of Temple Road, The Governors, for a reported industrial accident. Further investigation revealed that the 22-year-old male victim was a contractor working on a residence under construction. The victim was on the second story of the residence standing on a 2×4 while installing floor joists in place. The victim lost his footing and fell approximately 14 feet onto a concrete slab below.

The Philadelphia man was airlifted to the Christiana Hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit. He was admitted in critical condition. His name is being withheld at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
