Parsonsburg man sentenced on carjacking charges
SALISBURY, Md. – A Parsonsburg man will spend 25 years behind bars after pleading guilty to armed carjacking and two counts of attempted carjacking.
On the morning of September 9, 2019, 32-year-old Derrick Richardson tried to carjack two separate vehicles near his residence. In his third attempt, Richardson successfully stopped a 2009 Chevrolet Impala and ordered the female driver out at gunpoint. He then got into the vehicle and drove off. Deputies responded to the scene and conducted an investigation that led to the recovery of evidence including video footage of Richardson driving the stolen Impala. Three days after the incident, the stolen vehicle was found in the woods approximately 1,000 feet from Richardson’s home.
Richardson was sentenced to 25 years behind bars, with five years of supervised probation to follow.
