Neighbors helping neighbors, gofundme page set up for couple impacted by storm Isaias
HORNTOWN, Va.- It’s been well over 24 hours since tropical storm Isaias swept through Delmarva, but now the work has begun to pick up the pieces left in the wake of tornadoes, strong winds, and flooding.
In Horntown, VA, neighbors have set up a gofundme page for a couple who’s mobile home was destroyed by a tree that fell on it.
Jonathan Penman, a friend of Jean and Lois Heflin, said the tree crashed through their home and took out their awning while they were sound asleep.
He said that the community came together right away to help the couple.
Penman said because he’s disabled he was not able to help with the clean up as much as he would’ve liked.
That’s why he created a gofundme.
He said in times like these it’s important to help your neighbor in any way you can.
“When it comes down to it, when there’s times of crisis, you know we all live together so we have to be strong together,” Penman said.
So far, the fundraiser has raised over $2,000 dollars.
Penman said you can donate by typing in Storm Damage Fund for Gene and Lois Heflin on gofundme.com
