Milligan Jr. on par for future golf success

SALISBURY, Md.- John Milligan Junior could be classified as a golf prodigy. In just his second year playing, the incoming eighth-grader has seen plenty of success.

“It’s been awesome just to see the progression, and actually seeing the fruits of your labor,” said his father John Milligan Sr. Junior credits his dad as the reason he began playing a few years ago. “I started watching my dad when he started, and I wanted to try it,” John Jr. said.

Milligan Jr. won the 11U championship in Wicomico Recreation and Park’s Junior Golf League– in his first year playing. Now in his second season, he finished the league with a spotless record of eight wins and one tie. “I practice a lot, and try to get my swing better. It’s fun, enjoyable, relaxing, and it’s a game you can play forever,” he said.

Also impressive is who is waiting in the wings, John Jr.’s seven-year old brother Nate.  “I think when he gets my age he might hit it a little further than I do, he’s doing good.”

Milligan Jr. is currently competing in Delaware’s Junior PGA Tour.
