Md. COVID-19 positivity rate drops below 4% for the first time, officials say

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan announced on Friday that Maryland’s statewide COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped below four percent for the first time, now at 3.9%.

In addition, the daily positivity rate has dropped to 3.23%. The state’s positivity rate has been under 5% since June 25th, and is now more than 85% lower than its peak on April 17th.

Total current hospitalizations are at 528, which is a decrease of 7 over the past 24 hours. There are currently 135 ICU beds in use, which is down by 4.

State health officials say they are continuing to monitor a rising positivity rate in Worcester County, where we’re told it has risen by more than 93% in the last week, to 6.59%.

The positivity rate among Marylanders over 35 is down to a record low of 3.19%. The positivity rate among Marylanders under 35 has also begun to decline, and is now at 5.35%.
