Greenwood man arrested for DUI on lawnmower

1280 Cahall

LINCOLN, Del. – A Greenwood man has been arrested on his 5th DUI and other charges after Delaware State Police responded to a check on the welfare complaint Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., troopers responded to the 10000 block of Webb Farm Road in Lincoln. The initial report was that a subject was lying in the grass area on the side of the road near a lawnmower. Another report received by police was that the subject was driving the lawnmower south on Webb Farm Road and was traveling through yards and acting disorderly.

On arrival, troopers found the subject, later identified as 60-year-old Ralph Cahall, leaning against his lawnmower. A strong odor of alcohol was detected on contact with Cahall, and it was determined that he was driving his lawnmower under the influence of alcohol. Troopers tried to take him into custody, however he was reportedly not compliant and resisted arrest. A computer check also revealed that Cahall had four prior DUI convictions.

He was eventually taken into custody and charged with 5th offense DUI, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and third degree criminal trespass. He was held at SCI on $7,101 secured bail.
